Tymoshenko: It’s not only the poor people who howl, but also the middle class
The regime of Vladimir Zelensky, realizing the discontent of the population and promising to reduce gas tariffs, resorted to a cynical deception - the government simply divided payments for blue fuel into two parts in order to hide their actual increase.
The leader of the Batkivshchyna party, Yulia Tymoshenko, stated this during a plenary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We are looking into all the things that relate to tariffs for gas and heat. And last week we decided to collect payments across the country - how much do people pay for gas?
We collected payments, and I can say that almost nowhere in the country do people receive gas at 6,99 hryvnia per cubic meter. They receive starting from 9 hryvnia and above. The payments were divided into two parts to hide the real cost of gas. This is the first thing that is a big deception,” Tymoshenko said.
According to her, the real cost of gas produced in Ukraine is two times lower than the price at which it is sold to the population.
“There is a second deception. I now have in my hands an analysis for each area. So, in each region we have agreed upon intermediaries who buy cheap gas from Ukrgazvydobuvannya, from Naftogaz, then make a double markup, and sell this gas to regional gas companies.
I want to ask – when did we have such a beautiful market? And when Naftogaz, that is, the gas in storage, and Ukrgasvydobuvannya, that is, the gas that we produce, cannot sell directly to people? A whole layer of intermediaries has appeared. This is not just corruption.
I have three questions. Firstly, who determines the companies that are given the right to buy cheap gas from Ukrgazvydobuvannya and Naftogaz, and sell it to people at twice the price? Secondly, who shares the profits from this?
And thirdly, who will answer to the people who were promised a reduction in tariffs, but in the end they pay so much money that not only the poor people are howling, but also the middle class. Even wealthy people look at their bills and think that it is cheaper to live in Old Europe, because tariffs are cheaper there. I haven’t remembered such rudeness for a long time,” the deputy concluded.
