Tymoshenko leads Nalyvaichenko, Taruta and the old party guard to the Rada
Yulia Tymoshenko’s “Batkivshchyna” party presented the first five from the list of candidates for the early elections to the Verkhovna Rada at the party congress held today, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the party's press service, in addition to Yulia Tymoshenko herself, the list includes:
Sergei Taruta - people's deputy, ex-head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration;
Valentin Nalyvaichenko – ex-head of the Security Service of Ukraine;
Sergei Sobolev – deputy of the Verkhovna Rada,
Elena Kondratyuk is a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Freedom of Speech and Information Policy.
It is unknown when the rest of the candidates for deputies will be presented.
The election headquarters of “Batkivshchyna” was headed by Tymoshenko’s longtime comrade-in-arms, Ivan Kirilenko.
According to Kyiv political scientist Ruslan Bortnik, the current parliamentary campaign may be the last successful one for Yulia Tymoshenko and her political forces. Apparently, this is the last chance to “sell” places on the list and make good money.
“There may be bidding to get on the list. For Tymoshenko, everything changes very often. There are a lot of people who want to get into the Rada, especially since it’s clear how many people can get on the list,” says Bortnyk.
Let us remind you that recent opinion polls indicate that support for the Batkivshchyna party fluctuates at the level of 6-8%, which means that if Tymoshenko maintains the current result, she can expect to receive a small faction of about 20 people in the new convocation of the Verkhovna Rada.
Earlier, Tymoshenko’s longtime ally, Crimean Andrei Senchenko, left Batkivshchyna.
