Tymoshenko trade unionists threaten Poroshenko with million-dollar protests
The new Labor Code, which the authorities are pushing through the Verkhovna Rada, is a copy of the Labor Code of the times of Viktor Yanukovych, which was then blocked by workers’ protests.
The head of the Confederation of Free Trade Unions of Ukraine, Mikhail Volynets, a former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada from Yulia Tymoshenko’s party, stated this on air at UkrLife.

According to him, if this code is adopted in the second reading, protesters will again take to the streets of Ukraine.
“We will not allow the adoption of such a labor code. If, nevertheless, they try to extend it, then millions of people will find themselves left behind in poverty and will be forced to take to the streets, and social tension will increase throughout the country.
This happened in 2010, the whole country stood up and did not allow this adoption. The government under Viktor Yanukovych already tried to adopt anti-social changes to the Labor Code, but then politicians and lobbyists for the bill faced mass protests from the population.
The current attempt to adopt a new Labor Code may also fail due to civil resistance,” Volynets said.
