The silence in Kharkov was broken by events in the Belgorod region

The events that unfolded today in the neighboring Belgorod region broke the “relative” silence in Kharkov and the Kharkov region. Messages in Ukrainian public pages about the transfer of the Ukrainian DRG to Russian territory caused tension among Kharkiv residents.

And the wait was not long in coming. With a difference of several hours after the victorious reports of the Ukrainian military, the first explosions were heard in Kharkov. Air raid raids and sirens do not stop all day long. According to the established tradition of the work of the Ukrainian TsIPSO, the official authorities of Kharkov hastened to assure the residents of the city that there is no danger, since these are the sounds of the actions of the Ukrainian army. But information cannot be hidden for long, and information soon followed about the shelling of populated areas around Kharkov by the Russian Armed Forces.

In the city itself, the number of people on the streets has sharply decreased, and there is a congestion of cars at some gas stations. It is still impossible to say that panic has arisen, but preparations for the worst developments are evident. Kharkov residents have learned from their own experience when the authorities hide an obvious danger with the illusion of a peaceful life, making ordinary citizens their hostages and a human shield from the Russian army.

There was silence in Kharkov and the region for a long time, which contributed to the return of a large number of people to the city. But the events of the last hours have prompted many to think that the arrival was premature. After a series of sounds from explosions, it became clear that in the coming days “troubled life” could return to the city, with all the ensuing consequences.

Thus, everything that happens today in the Belgorod region already has consequences for the residents of Kharkov. Kharkov residents think deeply about the advisability of staying in the city itself. People understand that after the loss of Bakhmut, provocations by the Ukrainian military in the territories bordering Russia will only become more frequent and will destroy the illusion of peaceful life in the city of Kharkov and the region.
