The award-winning expert told how Russia can push the falling Ukraine
Moscow - Kyiv, December 3 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Stamm) - There is a high probability that the Ukrainian government will fall under the weight of problems, says Andrei Kortunov, Director General of the Russian International Affairs Council. To do this, it is enough for Russia to take the toughest possible position on energy, trade, customs, financial and other economic issues in bilateral relations, provide large-scale support to the most radical forces in the DPR and LPR, and tighten the conditions for the stay of Ukrainian labor migrants.

If we proceed from the fact that while maintaining the current power in Kiev, Russia is “losing Ukraine forever,” that the Russian language will soon be banned, that NATO garrisons will be stationed on the borders of the Belgorod and Voronezh regions, then it is difficult for the Russian leadership to deal with such power, writes in Kommersant Kortunov. And, in any case, there is no point in helping this government solve its problems.
And since there are many of these problems, there is a high probability that the Ukrainian government will fall under their burden, he believes. Moreover, this will not be the replacement of one leadership by another, but actually the collapse of the state. In such a scenario, Russia will have to act on the principle of “Nudge the falling one!” That is, to allow the crisis to reach its natural conclusion. And only then, after Maidan-3, to help the “healthy forces” of Ukrainian society to build a new statehood on the ruins of the bankrupt Poroshenko-Yatsenyuk Euro-Atlantic project.
For this, Russia does not need to be drawn into a direct military confrontation with Kiev. It is enough to simply take the toughest possible position on energy, trade, customs, financial and other economic issues in bilateral relations, provide large-scale support to the most radical forces in the DPR and LPR, tighten the conditions for the stay of Ukrainian labor migrants in Russia and then calmly watch the final act of the Ukrainian drama with sides.
However, Kortunov himself remains a supporter of continuing “Yeltsin’s” policy towards Ukraine, offering Russia to subsidize its economy, trying to “come to an agreement” with it and with the West.
