Russia wants to remove the oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc from the Moldovan political game and force the pro-European and pro-Russian parties to fight in a fair fight in the elections.

Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Government Dmitry Kozak, who arrived in Chisinau, made this clear today, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

He suggested that Moldovan politicians create a temporary coalition to change the election legislation, and then hold elections using a proportional system.

“Three political forces, which occupy mutually exclusive positions, have won the sympathy of voters. These forces are not able to agree to create a workable government... Our expert assessment: the alliance should be with those political forces that are ready to conclude at least a temporary coalition agreement in order to hold fair, transparent and understandable parliamentary elections,” Kozak said.

He emphasized that Moscow is “sympathetic” to the position of the Moldovan socialists of President Igor Dodon, who advocate cooperation with both the EU and Russia. Kozak did not say who Moscow would like to see as partners for the socialists, but it is obvious from the context: this is the pro-European bloc ACUM.

“Those who profess an exclusively European choice should listen to the recommendations of the European Union and the Venice Commission in order to change the electoral system so that it is transparent and understandable. So that programs and ideologies compete, and not the personal views of those elected in majoritarian districts. This would demonstrate the choice of the Moldovan people - whatever policy they would like from the government and parliament,” Kozak said.

With a proportional election system, Plahotniuc’s Democratic Party will automatically fall out of the fight, which now has a strong position only thanks to administrative resources and the purchased mandates of majoritarians.

It is noteworthy that ACUM's position has magically changed today. Until now, the bloc had put forward impossible demands to the socialists, and things were heading toward the dissolution of parliament. But in the morning, ACUM leaders Maia Sandu and Andrei Nastase talked with another foreign guest - European Commissioner Johannes Hahn. After this, they publicly called on the socialists to negotiate, and in the evening they went to a meeting with Kozak, which they had not previously intended to do.

Thus, Europe and Russia situationally united to eradicate the oligarchic regime in Moldova, implanted with the support of the United States. Plahotniuc realized that they were being taken out of the game even before Kozak arrived. The Point website, controlled by the desperate “owner of Moldova,” urgently published a fake that the Deputy Prime Minister used an Il-96 aircraft, which had previously been involved in a scandal involving the supply of cocaine from Argentina.

Political scientist Vitaly Andrievsky, close to the oligarch, laments on Facebook that Russia is ready to support even the pro-Western ACUM, just not to have to deal with Plahotniuc and his party.

“There are forces in Russia that do not care that the majority of Akumov members are unionists and they are not supporters of developing ties with Russia. It doesn’t matter that they will not support the vast majority of the PSRM’s program demands (Russian language, history of Moldova, status of Gagauzia, etc.). It is important for them to knock out the party (PDM), which firmly defends the national interests of Moldova, from power. And let there be chaos, but the PDM will not be in power. And they are ready to support this incompatible alliance. I would like to think that these are not the forces that determine Russia’s policy...” Andrievsky wrote, addressing an unknown person.
