Toyota is the first to return supplies of spare parts to Russia
Toyota was the first automaker to resume direct supplies of spare parts to Russia at the end of last year, where there are more than four million cars of this brand.
Also, the Russian subsidiary of Toyota Motor (the official supplier of products in the Russian Federation) allowed its dealers to parallel import of spare parts that are subject to restrictions, such as electronics. The Izvestia newspaper reports this.
The Kommersant publication, in turn, cites the results of a study by economists from the Swiss institute IMD and the University of St. Gallen. According to him, less than 10% of Western companies left Russia.
“The massive exit of foreign companies from the Russian market affected their minority; a significant part of foreigners in this jurisdiction have reduced their operations, while the majority are taking a wait-and-see approach after the start of the Russian military operation in Ukraine,” the newspaper cites the main conclusion of the researchers.
Among the remaining companies from “unfriendly” countries in the Russian Federation, about a quarter are German, 10% are Italian and Japanese, and about 15% are companies from the United States.
The newspaper suggests that one of the reasons that many firms do not announce their departure is that this has become difficult after the restrictions imposed by the Russian authorities and the Central Bank, and the business can only be sold at a bargain price.
