Pushing and threatening, Poroshenko passed border control and went to trial
Former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, who is suspected of treason and financing terrorism, went to a court hearing, which is scheduled for 11 a.m. Kyiv time today.
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, Poroshenko went to the Pechersk court directly from the Zhuliany airport, where he flew from Warsaw.
During border control at the checkpoint, a crush and scandal arose - security forces spent 10-15 minutes checking whether Poroshenko was real in front of them and did not give him his passport, to which the former head of state responded with threats.
“I, as a citizen of Ukraine, am not allowed into the territory of the state. Border guards do not let you through without explanation, under the guise of some kind of check, and do not allow you to enter the territory of Ukraine. This is a provocation that encourages mass actions,” the ex-president said.
As a result, Poroshenko passed the border guards, after which he spoke at the airport in front of his supporters.
“I didn’t even suspect that the authorities were so stupid. Vladimir Zelensky, do you want street protests? These methods can easily provoke them. You, Arakhamia and Ermak already have an apartment in Rostov, why are you doing this?” Borislav Bereza, a former speaker of the Right Sector banned in Russia, ex-deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, threatened President Zelensky.
In turn, Kiev journalist Svetlana Kryukova called what happened at the airport today a cheap copy of how several years ago former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili broke through the border to get from Poland to Ukraine at a time when Petro Poroshenko, who was in power, was fighting him.
“They returned Hetman’s passport. They will go to court. A C grade for the show. Saakashvili had more fun,” says Kryukova.
Meanwhile, Poroshenko’s supporters also gathered near the Pechersk court, staging a drummer show there.
