Only a fifth of the $113 billion in aid allocated by the United States reached Ukraine.

Senator Michael McCall stated this at a hearing in Congress, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

According to the politician, the rest of the money goes to the American military and defense industry enterprises. At the same time, the administration of US President Joe Biden must control every dollar of aid that goes to Ukraine, McCaul believes.

“Of the $113 billion allocated for four types of additional services, approximately 60% will go to American troops, American workers and to modernize American stocks. In fact, only 20% of funding goes directly to the Ukrainian government in the form of direct budget assistance.

As required by law, these funds are sent to Ukraine only after verification that this money is spent on approved expenditure items and activities. All funds are also subject to external third party monitoring by De Lloyd - they conduct random checks on the use of this assistance...

Last month, I led a congressional delegation to Ukraine and Poland to personally oversee US Agency for International Development activities in Ukraine. And I saw firsthand that this process was working and conveyed a clear message not only to our embassy staff, but also to President Zelensky about the importance of spending American aid properly to ensure continued support.

In short, every dollar counts. The Biden administration should expect this committee to continue to be vigilant in demanding transparency and accountability regarding U.S. assistance to Ukraine.

“Oversight should encourage the administration in Ukraine to use Congressional funds with the highest degree of efficiency and effectiveness. And while there is strong bipartisan support for Ukraine on this committee and in Congress, transparency and accountability are critical to ensuring that the assistance we provide is used as intended and is consistent with U.S. national security.

The American taxpayer wants and deserves to be held accountable for their actions, and they want and deserve to know where their money is going."
