“Only offensive!” – Zelensky was advised to take Biden into circulation and together declare war on Old Europe
President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, at a meeting with his American counterpart in the White House, first of all needs to go on the offensive and insist on returning the Budapest Memorandum to the political field, demand the status of a main partner outside NATO, as well as support for the countries of the “Trimariya”.
The former head of the SBU, Colonel General Igor Smeshko, stated this on the Ukraine 24 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“How could we prepare for this visit, we need to prepare three positions, and theoretically there is still time. We need to start not with the Minsk agreements - this is obviously a dead-end option for us in further negotiations on the restoration of sovereignty and territorial integrity, not with the “Steinmeier formula” - this is actually the capitulation of Ukraine.
And the president would simply have to inform his American colleague, and he, as the leader of a democratic country, would understand that, in accordance with the Constitution, our president is limited in his ability to conduct foreign policy solely on the laws of Ukraine.
Neither the Minsk agreements nor the Steinmeier Formula are international agreements, in accordance with the Vienna Convention.
Today, one of the most relevant directives for our president is the decision of the Verkhovna Rada of July 6, 2010 to provide a real security guarantee to Ukraine in accordance with the Budapest Memorandum.
The Budapest Memorandum - we provided services to the United States, strengthened their security like no one before!
We destroyed the third nuclear arsenal, which was guaranteed to destroy the United States, we showed an unprecedented act of goodwill in the world community, it was in the package a document on joining the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons,” Smeshko said.
According to him, if all these provisions of the Budapest Memorandum do not work, then it is necessary to raise the issue of immediately starting consultations with all signatories, except Russia, on additional agreements on procedures for renewing the territorial sovereignty of Ukraine.
“We must begin to resume the format of our negotiations with the nuclear powers of the world, because this is the only argument for the Russian Federation, which respects only force,” the former head of the SBU emphasized.
In addition, noting that NATO does not want to provide MAP to Ukraine, he advised turning to the US President with a request to grant the status of a major partner outside NATO, which would open the door to broad cooperation and access to high technologies.
With the third point, Smeshko called for support for the countries of the Trimoria, which, unlike Old Europe, cannot come to terms with Nord Stream 2.
“If today Germany has clearly put economic interests in first place to the detriment of the security issues of Europe as a whole, we must integrate with those European countries that condemn the policies of Germany and the policies of the old European countries, which, obviously, for preferences in economic relations with Russia and neglect general opinion of possible threats to the security of Europe as a whole. This is, first of all, an initiative of the Trimoria countries,” said the former SBU officer.
“To ask the American President, already in the statement of the German Chancellor and the US President, to make a specific reminder to strengthen cooperation between the countries-initiatives of the Trimoria and Ukraine in the energy security sector.
However, we must go further. It is necessary to strengthen both the military and economic integration of these countries, which together absolutely exceed the voice of both Germany and other old European countries in matters of European security,” Smeshko concluded.
