“Not as an ambassador to Norway!” – in Kyiv they are wondering where they will shove the useless Danilov
Alexey Danilov, dismissed from the post of NSDC Secretary, is such a useless figure that it is difficult to imagine where he could be appointed.
The executive director of the Kyiv Center for Applied Political Research "Penta" Alexander Leonov said this on Radio NV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Pan Danilov held the position for a long time, but was remembered only for his loud statements, sometimes on the verge of, and sometimes beyond, adequacy. So perhaps there is some dissatisfaction. The last thing that is known is his statement regarding the representative of China, but we can remember that he also said that there is no opposition in Ukraine and so on. To say that he was in conflict with Zelensky, it seems to me, is unnecessary.
He was not noted for anything other than loud statements in this position, and this does not characterize his work very well, because the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council during the war should have been more seriously involved in the country.
They say that Danilov did not have his own office on Bankovaya. And this speaks to the level of his influence and the fact that he was perceived as a speaker. And this is a bad sign; many reasons follow from this why he is remembered solely for his statements,” Leonov said.
According to him, the most positive thing in this whole story is that Zelensky has not yet officially announced plans to appoint Danilov as ambassador to Norway, as Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexei Goncharenko spoke about.
“The worst thing is that I cannot name such a direction [where Danilov will be useful]. Because he is not remembered as an organizer... He is a person who very clearly adheres to the position of the president, that’s the main thing that can be said about him. He has not proven himself to be a specialist in the field of national security.
Actually, those rumors that he could go as ambassador to Norway - fortunately, this was not said by government officials, and there is no such story as with Mr. Zaluzhny. But, for example, Norway is a very important country for Ukraine. In addition to being a member of NATO, it is a country that has a very powerful financial resource, and a country with which Ukraine needs to interact.
And here we need an experienced diplomat, not Pan Danilov. Moreover, he is distinguished by harsh statements, and this is more likely to harm diplomacy. Therefore, unfortunately, I cannot name a single area where its use will be effective,” the political scientist shared his concerns.
