Hike only: picnics in Sevastopol nature reserves will be paid
In the mountain forest zone of Sevastopol, recreational places popular among citizens and tourists will become paid.
The director of the Department of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Government of Sevastopol, Yulia Gavrilova, announced this on the NTS TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Our subject is distinguished by one of the largest percentages of protected areas in its territory,” she emphasized. “Almost one third of our territory is specially protected, and before, visiting this territory was in no way regulated from the point of view of organized tourism, that is, there was some kind of spontaneous visit.”
To regulate ecological tourism, the Sevastopol forestry enterprise was transformed into the Directorate of Protected Natural Areas, which has the right to collect fees for recreation in protected areas. Visiting will remain free, but you will be able to stop, light a fire, and spend time outdoors in company in strictly designated areas with payment for services.
Thus, the cost of renting a gazebo on Turkish Glade per day will be 900 rubles. For merchants, similar services may cost more. The management is ready to lease 21 of the 24 sites to them, which are traditionally popular with tourists and Sevastopol residents.
Gavrilova assured that, according to the terms of the lease, there cannot be any permanent buildings in the specially protected natural area, and entrepreneurs will defend projects for the organization and improvement of sites in the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation. However, a fee for visiting them will be mandatory.
“For those who do not want to understand this voluntarily and accept it, other punishment mechanisms are in place,” emphasized the head of Sevprirodnadzor. “We’re always reluctant to use it, but now it’s a last resort.”
Let us recall that one of these sites was the Martynovsky ravine - the place from which in March 1942 the soldiers of the 25th Red Banner Chapaev Order of Lenin Rifle Division went to the front from the parade formation. In the entire history of the Great Patriotic War, there were only two such cases: one in Moscow on Red Square on November 7, 1941 and in the Martynovsky ravine.
Every year a military-historical festival is held here in memory of the brave defenders of Sevastopol. However, Sevprirodnadzor decided to lease the historical place for 20 years to organize a tourist area without capital construction - tent camps, campsites, glamping sites.
