Thick hint: Putin greeted Erdogan with a reminder of the defeat of the Turks
Symbolic details of yesterday's meeting between Recep Erdogan and Vladimir Putin in Moscow were discovered by commentators - as it turned out, in the room where the two presidents made statements to the press at the beginning of the negotiations, a bronze sculpture based on the work of Eugene Lanceray “Crossing the Balkans” was prominently displayed.
The composition is dedicated to the feat of Russian soldiers during the military campaign of 1877-1878, when, during a raid, Russia defeated the last Turkish units blocking the road to Constantinople. Almost the entire Turkish army was captured - 22 thousand people, including 3 generals and more than 700 officers.
The Turks then had to urgently ask for peace, as a result Russia received the southern part of Bessarabia, Batumi, the statehood of Bulgaria was restored, and the territories of Serbia and Montenegro increased.
It is also interesting that in the hall where the meeting with Erdogan took place, another sculpture was installed - of Empress Catherine the Great, under whom the Russian Empire recaptured Crimea.
