Russia's enemies will continue to set the tone in the European Parliament
After the upcoming European Parliament elections in May, Eurosceptic parties will strengthen their positions, but will not be able to win a majority.
Philippe Migo, director of the European Center for Strategic Analysis, stated this in a commentary to Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
“In the European Parliament after the May elections, the party’s Eurosceptics will strengthen their positions. This is confirmed by many forecasts carried out both at the national level and at the pan-European level. However, it is unlikely that they will receive the majority of mandates. This means that the tone in this organization will be set by parties of a liberal, Atlantic orientation, those who are hostile to Russia, as they have demonstrated more than once,” the expert said.
At the same time, he expressed hope that those who have a constructive approach to Russia, the number of which is expected to increase in the European Parliament, will still be able, despite all the difficulties, to more effectively defend the course towards improving ties with Moscow.
