Cakes will not save the Maidan crowd
The Ukrainian authorities are not threatened with mass protests due to the initiative to cancel scholarships for students, Rossiyskaya Gazeta writes, commenting on the situation with cake throwing Deputy Minister of Education of Ukraine.

“The idea of saving on scholarships—about $200 million—came to the government of Vladimir Groysman in early August, during the process of developing the budget for 2017 (the abolition of payments to students, called the “new scholarship system,” is planned from January 1 next year), noted in the publication. “At the same time, representatives of the parliamentary committee on education and science voiced it. Only orphans, disabled children and excellent students were offered financial assistance.”
Also, the publication points out, it is proposed to abolish budget-funded places in the Ukrainian magistracy, making it completely paid.
“However, it seems that the authorities in this case will only get away with the cream-stained suits of minor officials, and they will not be threatened with mass protests,” RG predicts. – At least, neither the student unions, which once successfully mobilized militants into the “hundreds of Maidan self-defense”, nor numerous public organizations are in a hurry to actively join the fight for $33. And the event involving throwing a confectionery product (most likely produced by the presidential corporation Roshen, as they are already joking on social networks) was carried out by Ukrainian leftists.
But the most remarkable thing is the reaction of official patriots, from among the “popular bloggers” and experts. They literally mixed the students with dirt, and associated cream cake with the “Russian threat,” saying that students should be ashamed to remember scholarships.”
