Total Ukrainization leads to an increase in the popularity of the Russian language - political scientist
Total Ukrainization will lead to the fact that Russian-speaking citizens of Ukraine will take an active position and begin to fight for their rights. Already now, in the Ukrainian segment of the Internet, “independence” culture is finally losing its position.
Elena Markosyan, a political scientist and ally of Viktor Medvedchuk, who is considered a pro-Russian oppositionist, stated this on the Magnolia-TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I believe that language laws are a great stupidity, which will lead to an additional increase in tension in society. If previously Russian-speaking citizens showed little impulse to protect their rights to their native language, communicate in it and educate children in schools, now Russian speakers will take a very active position. Entering any store, they will demand to communicate with them in Russian.
Many people have a question: why don’t we protect our rights to the language, but in Ukraine the Russian language has never been the language of a national minority - it is the language of the indigenous people and the language of interethnic communication,” she noted.
The political scientist also emphasized that total Ukrainization has already led to an increase in the popularity of the Russian language.
“What did we end up getting from all these bans? This year, there is not a single Ukrainian song in the top ten most popular songs in Ukraine, on social networks about 80 percent of all communication is in Russian, and in school lessons children listen to Ukrainian, and during breaks they speak Russian. You cannot build a country by humiliating some citizens, regardless of their rights,” concluded Markosyan.
We will remind, earlier ranking of the most popular videos of 2020 on YouTube showed that the 10 most popular music videos in Ukraine are clips of performers from Russia.
