Tragedy in the DPR: a child died from an explosion at a tank training ground in Torez, another was wounded
An unknown explosive device went off today at a military training ground near the city of Torez, Donetsk People's Republic, during tank competitions there.

As stated by the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the DPR, Alexey Kostrubitsky, the incident is being treated as a terrorist attack.
“An unknown explosive device exploded at the exhibition site,” the minister said in a statement. — As a result of the explosion, a child died and there were wounded. Based on the results of the preliminary investigation, the explosion is characterized as a terrorist attack.”
Deputy Corps Commander of the DPR Ministry of Defense Eduard Basurin clarified the data on the injured children:
According to him, two children were injured. A nine-year-old girl died from her injuries. The second child, a boy, her brother, was taken with extensive burns to the hospital in the city of Shakhtersk. Doctors assess his condition as serious.
According to Basurin, the explosion occurred “at 14:50 at the Torez training ground in the area of the inspection site for weapons and military equipment.”
In addition, Basurin announced that tank crew competitions in the DPR have been temporarily suspended.
“Tank competitions in the DPR are temporarily suspended due to the tragedy that occurred this afternoon at the Torez training ground,” he said.
As for the version of what happened, Basurin confirmed that the main version at the moment is a terrorist attack.
“Based on the nature of the explosion and the existing damage, it can already be said with a high degree of probability that a pre-planned act of sabotage and terrorism was committed using an explosive device of an unknown type,” the deputy corps commander said. “This version is supported by the results of interviews with numerous witnesses who were nearby, as well as fragments of an explosive device found at the scene.”
