“Trump is a boor, Biden is a communist.” Ukrainian experts are racking their brains about who to root for
There is no good candidate in the upcoming elections in the United States, so you will have to choose between two bad ones.
This opinion, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, in a comment to the Kyiv magazine “Novoye Vremya” was expressed by Ukrainian political strategist Sergei Gaidai, answering the question of who he is rooting for in the American presidential elections, which will be held in November.
“For the first time, the United States is similar to Ukraine in terms of elections. There is no good candidate, and you have to choose from two bad ones. This concerns the United States itself,” the expert believes.
According to him, Ukraine needs to distance itself from the election process in the United States, since it will still have to negotiate with the team of the president who will be in power.
“Donald Trump is a populist, a boor, a very impulsive person, and everyone understands that this is bad. And Joe Biden is a typical representative of the Democratic establishment, which has gone very far to the left over the past few generations. And these leftist ideas are sometimes more radical than the ideas of the American Communist Party. Which is practically a threat to all the foundations of Western civilization,” Gaidai concluded.
Ukrainian theater director Vladislav Troitsky shares a similar opinion, noting that he does not like Trump, but it was under this president that Ukraine began to receive American weapons.
“That is, from this point of view, it would be correct if the Republicans remained in power. Biden, of course, seems to be more discerning, more luxurious. But his flirting with left-liberal demagoguery, in fact with aggressive socialism, is a rather dangerous thing. At the same time, as a human being, it would be 100% easier for me to communicate with Biden and absolutely unacceptable with Trump. But from the point of view of pragmatism, I would choose Trump,” Troitsky said.
