Trump offered Putin a Bosnian scenario for Donbass
US President Donald Trump, during a meeting in Helsinki, voiced to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin the “Bosnian” option for resolving the conflict in Donbass according to the American scenario.
Alexey Venediktov, editor-in-chief of the radio station Ekho Moskvy, said this on Radio Liberty, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The story with Ukraine is that the American negotiator Volcker proposed through Merkel a year ago approximately the following scheme - the introduction of 25 to 40 thousand peacekeepers to the South-East of Ukraine. The Americans agree that there should be no representatives of NATO countries among them; roughly speaking, there should be Swedes and Armenians. This is one story. And the second is that since there are a huge number of refugees - two out of five million voters - it is impossible to hold elections as Russia demands,” Venediktov said.
“Therefore, the Americans propose to create a temporary civilian foreign administration from the same people, that is, not from NATO, but not from Russians and Ukrainians. This was in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This is Volcker’s crude proposal, which, naturally, does not fit into the Minsk agreements in any way and to which the Russian side’s answer is “no.” I think that Trump repeated this in some form,” says the editor-in-chief of the liberal media.
