Trump equated Ukrainian Maidan activists with criminals
The BBC accuses US President Donald Trump of trying to pass off a photo taken during the Ukrainian Maidan as American protests, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Trump reportedly posted an image of two photos on his account. In one, he is talking with police officers; in another, a law enforcement officer is surrounded by protesters; at the bottom of the image is the caption: “Public safety vs chaos and violence.”
The photo used to illustrate the “chaos and violence” was taken during protests in Ukraine in 2014, the BBC notes.
Facebook told the BBC that no action would be taken on the post and would not comment further.
The publication notes that the Ukrainian photo shows an employee of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, since on his shoulder we can clearly see an insignia that is not used by police in the United States - “a Coptic cross, which can be seen in countries where Orthodoxy is practiced” (in fact, a Maltese cross) .
