“We expect that we will receive support from the United States in such a difficult time for Ukraine, we hope for support for the peacekeeping mission and economic reforms,” Poroshenko said.
In turn, Donald Trump noted the “progress” that, in his opinion, Ukraine has achieved over the past 3 months.
“We recently spent some time in the White House, and I know that since then you have had some success, a lot of progress in fact,” Trump said, adding that Ukraine is not the easiest place to live right now.
“But you are making it (life in Ukraine - Ed.) better and better on an ongoing basis, and I hear very good things, because things are going very well in Ukraine,” Trump praised the Ukrainian authorities.
After several minutes of meeting, the presidents continued the meeting without journalists.
Also in a message on Poroshenko’s website it is claimed that Donald Trump allegedly “fully supported Ukraine’s position regarding the deployment of peacekeepers with a UN mandate in the uncontrolled territory of Donbass.”
