Trump is convinced that “terrible people” live in Ukraine

US President Donald Trump considers Ukraine a thoroughly corrupt and negative country.

This was stated by the former US special representative to Ukraine Kurt Volker, speaking at hearings in the US Congress in the case of impeachment of President Donald Trump, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

According to the diplomat, Trump received information alternative to that sent to him by US representatives working in Ukraine, which allowed him to form a negative opinion.

“Four of us who went to the inauguration [of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky] met with President Trump on August 23. We emphasized that President Zelensky represents Ukraine's best chance to overcome the corruption that has shackled the country for 20 years. But the president was very skeptical about this.

Considering the history of Ukraine and the corruption in this country, he said that “Ukraine is a corrupt country, there are terrible people there, they tried to get rid of me.” During this conversation, he mentioned his conversations with Mayor Giuliani, and it became clear to me that despite the positive news and recommendations that our delegation presented to him, President Trump had a negative perception of Ukraine, he received other information, from other sources, including Giuliani , which formed such a negative perception of Ukraine,” Volker said.
