Trump appointed a woman to head the CIA for the first time in US history
The post of director of the CIA will be taken by Gina Haspel, previously she was the deputy head of the department, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
US President Donald Trump announced this on Twitter.
Trump noted that this position will be occupied by a woman for the first time.
“Gina Haspel will be the new Director of the CIA, the first woman to hold that position,” Trump wrote.
As for Haspel, she previously served as the first deputy director of the CIA. It is noted that she is a career employee of the department with more than 30 years of experience.
Let us remember that during the election campaign, Trump was constantly dogged by accusations of sexism and disrespect for women.
