Newly elected US President Donald Trump announced the nomination of former Senator Daniel Coats, a supporter of sanctions against Russia, to the post of Director of the US Office of National Intelligence of the new administration.

Trump chose 73-year-old Dan Coats, a former senator from Indiana, to serve as head of national intelligence.
“He (Coates - ed.) understands intelligence tasks, as you know, he was the US ambassador to Germany, so he has experience in foreign policy, he is kind and easy to communicate,” Senator Angus King described Coates.
