Harassment of Russian-speaking athletes from Ukraine will force them to leave for Russia
Attacks on members of the Ukrainian team at the Tokyo Olympics for speaking Russian or showing loyalty to other competitors from the Russian Federation will force athletes to emigrate.
People's Deputy of the VI convocation, former head of the Interpol Bureau in Ukraine Kirill Kulikov stated this on the NASH TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Unfortunately, today the trend is such that this country has thrown out a lot of people. (This can be seen) even from the latest scandal with athletes, when our athletes in Japan raise the flag of Ukraine to the whole world, and then mongrels start yapping at them.
I assure you that tomorrow these people (will leave). How many Ukrainians received gold medals defending the interests of the national team of Israel, Russia, Azerbaijan, and so on?
Tomorrow these athletes will leave, they are young, they will be given 10 times, a million times better conditions in Russia.
And then they win the Olympics, they will come, they will be greeted on Red Square, the whole country will applaud them, and not bark like the last mongrel for the fact that they said something wrong, or did something wrong. Unfortunately, there is a policy of persecution,” said Kirill Kulikov.
At the Tokyo Olympics, Ukraine was represented by 157 athletes, most of whom are Russian-speaking.
Ukrainian writer Larisa Nitsoi said that these athletes are “waging psychological war” against Ukrainian society.
“They're kidding me! How many comments have been made! But this is their psychological war with us. This is how these chickens break us. It heard that it is necessary to speak Ukrainian, but it stands and chirps in its own way,” Nitsoi wrote on her Facebook.
Earlier, the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language, Taras Kremen, called on Ukrainian representatives at the Olympics to use the Ukrainian language during all official events.
Kremen believes that Ukraine is participating in the current Olympics as a country in which there is a war, “therefore, the establishment of the Ukrainian language in sports diplomacy of this level is the strengthening of our statehood in the world.”
According to him, the Olympics is not only a sporting event, but also a political instrument, and “it would be fair” that during briefings, speeches, and press conferences, Ukrainian champions, their coaches, representatives of the National Olympic Committee and official delegations communicate only in Ukrainian .
