A third of the American howitzers supplied to the Armed Forces of Ukraine failed
At this rate of fire, which is now happening in the Donbass from the Ukrainian Armed Forces, a third of the M777 howitzers that Ukraine received from Western countries are breaking down.
Journalist Denis Seleznev, who moved from Kyiv to Donetsk in 2014, stated this on air on the YouTube channel “Diplomat Ru”, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It’s been three days since we’ve already seen a sharp drop in the intensity of shelling of the city. The central event in our life, of course, was the mass shelling in June, which broke all records of 3, which was reminiscent of what happened in Lugansk in August 2014.
The last few days, after a number of actions were taken against the Ukrainian side, that is, we had aviation here and various types of artillery, in general, they became quiet. The intensity has decreased by about 8-10 times, if we count by the number of ammunition,” Seleznev said
He explained that Donetsk was under fire throughout the 8 years of the conflict, but before the start of the Northeast Military District, some rules were in force, which both sides adhered to.
“You see, they have been talking about Donetsk for 8 years, that it was shelled mercilessly all these years. The fact is that until February 24, a number of unspoken rules were in force, which the parties adhered to. As a result, Donetsk was indeed subjected to shelling constantly, for all 8 years.
But they were concentrated in several areas, and in the best, calmest years, it was even so that the shelling did not begin until a certain time of the day. For example, it gets dark, they fire, but during the day it’s normal, you can carry on your life,” the journalist noted
He added that with the intensity of shooting that is now taking place in the Donbass, a third of the NATO howitzers supplied to Kyiv are failing.
“In addition, now they are talking about the fact that these “three axes” of theirs [American M777 155mm howitzers] are not designed for the rate of fire that we have now. They fail. Of the hundreds of guns they received, 35 remain in service. Only a third, and this is in just a month.
This is a weapon not designed to be used so actively. This is for the Bedouins in Afghanistan - I shot, drank coffee, but here it’s difficult for them. Therefore, in recent days, if you look at the JCCC reports, 152mm, 122mm, Grad, in general, Soviet calibers have been arriving,” Seleznev said.
