A third of mining and metallurgical enterprises in Ukraine are closed, more than 400 thousand people have lost their jobs - top manager Akhmetova
Kiev, March 28 (PolitNavigator, Vasily Ablyazimov) – One of the leading managers of Rinat Akhmetov’s Metinvest corporation, director of the Azovstal plant, Enver Tskitishvili, said that in Ukraine in 2014-2015 a third of the enterprises of the mining and metallurgical complex were closed, 400 thousand people in the industry lost work.

In an interview with the Mariupol Sigma TV channel, Enver Tskitishvili said that Metinvest group enterprises will not lay off workers in order to overcome the consequences of the crisis and intend to protect their workforce.
“Despite the constant disruptions in the supply of raw materials to metallurgical plants in frontline Mariupol, we share the clear position of SCM shareholder Rinat Akhmetov, who advocates preserving jobs. We do not plan to make any cuts. We will maintain our work collectives, salaries, social package,” hopes Enver Tskitishvili.
The director of Azovstal said that in 2014, about a third of all mining and metallurgical enterprises in Ukraine closed, and more than 400 thousand people employed in this area were unemployed.
