A third of Russians are ready to vote for a woman president

About 32% of Russian residents would like to see a woman as the country's president, 55% agree that a representative of the fairer sex should become the country's prime minister. This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion (VTsIOM).

According to respondents, women can bring the most benefit in the areas of health and education. 89% of respondents would like to see a woman as a relevant minister, 59% would like women to head committees and factions in the State Duma, and 66% would like to see political parties.

Least of all do they want to see women in positions of security forces (heads of the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Prosecutor General's Office). 12% of respondents were in favor of this.

When survey participants were asked to name three Russian female politicians, they most often named Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko (28%), liberal Irina Khakamada (14%) and former ombudsman and now head of the Central Election Commission Ella Pamfilova.
