Italy's "fragile national unity" has not stood the test of the economic and social problems that befell the country after joining the sanctions war against Russia. After several unsuccessful attempts by Prime Minister Mario Draghi to resign, the President of Italy nevertheless granted his request and dissolved parliament.

Mattarella made the decision to dissolve parliament after consultations with the speakers of both houses of the Italian parliament in accordance with Article 88 of the Constitution.
Now the country must hold early elections. According to Italian media, the most likely date for the elections is September 25.
“The political situation led to the decision to dissolve the chambers: the discussions, the votes and the forms in which it was expressed yesterday clearly showed that the parliament does not support the government and there is no prospect of giving birth to a new majority,” said the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella.
The day before, Italian Prime Minister Draghi submitted his resignation for the second time a week later due to “lack of support.” The Italian Senate expressed confidence in Draghi, but did not receive the desired widespread support.
Let us remind you that this is the third recent resignation of a head of government in Europe. First, the pro-American Prime Minister of Bulgaria Kiril Petkov was dismissed, blaming the Russian ambassador for his defeat, then the political crisis swept away the Johnson government in Great Britain. Now it's Italy's turn. Similar problems could cost German Chancellor Olaf Scholz his seat, whose position is being undermined by a sex scandal circulating in the press involving members of his party.
