The third nightmare night for the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Zaporozhye direction
This night, Ukrainian formations again tried to break through the defenses of the Russian Armed Forces in the Zaporozhye direction.
The attack was preceded by a powerful artillery barrage at the Orekhovsky site, as reported late yesterday by military correspondent Andrei Rudenko. The offensive began around 23.00.
According to the military correspondent, in the Malaya Tokmachka area the enemy secretly landed about 200 personnel on one of the flanks.
“They thought they were moving secretly, but that’s what they thought. Several MLRS were fired at once in the square with the enemy infantry. They say no one left. I’m sure there will be a video from the Moscow Region tomorrow,” the author added.
In the morning he summed up:
“Zaporozhye, sixth day of heavy fighting. The enemy was unable to break through our defenses anywhere. They took it even where the Nazis were able to advance in the gray zone. There is silence now. After a night battle, the enemy is licking his wounds. The Ukrainians' losses are enormous. At the same time, their command does not spare people their word at all. Our guys are just great! Their resilience is amazing - they are all Heroes!”
The repulsion of another attack on the Orekhov-Rabotino section is confirmed by the tg channel of the WarGonzo project of military correspondent Semyon Pegov.
“On the scene, like yesterday, there are a lot of burnt armored vehicles. Sources of the @wargonzo project say that the Ukrainians themselves destroyed their damaged tank when they realized that it was not possible to roll back to the rear on their own,” the author points out.
Military observer Yuriy Podolyaka characterizes the latest events as “the third terrible night for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.”
“So, at approximately 23.00 on June 9, the enemy, after a short but powerful artillery barrage, again climbed into the trenches of the 291st regiment. He climbed powerfully and from several sides at once. Moreover (this is not yet completely clear, it was dark and not visible) he threw something here to clear mines, and therefore tried to hit us, as he thought, from unexpected directions (through a minefield). As a result, he didn’t completely deminerize something there, and therefore several pieces of equipment were blown up, the enemy was covered with artillery, and aviation worked. At the same time, he demonstrated an attack from other directions, but there too to no avail.
Half an hour later came the next attack, and then the next. They walked one after another until about four o’clock in the morning and with dawn they began to gradually calm down,” Podolyaka describes the situation.
He notes the excellent work of kamikaze drones of the 42nd division of the Russian Armed Forces.
“But enemy UAV companies still cannot turn around. They are being crushed by our electronic warfare, and the crews cannot get close to the front, since we also have “devices” that calculate their positions, where an artillery strike is immediately delivered. And this, as I already said, became a very unpleasant surprise for the enemy and, in fact, deprived him of one of the main strike weapons that he was counting on during the “counterattack,” the expert adds.
Military correspondent Alexander Sladkov writes about the enemy’s use of assault wave tactics and describes the theoretical algorithm of actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: artillery preparation - the advancement of several armored groups (7-8 vehicles plus infantry) - an attempt to approach our positions, assault the trenches, consolidation while awaiting the approach of the main forces, with the task of advancing deep into our defenses.
“In practice, our artillery destroys enemy armored targets as soon as they come within its range. If the assault group manages to reach our strongholds, the uncompromising Russian infantry enters the battle. Otherwise, the remaining intact enemy armor turns around, leaves, replenishes its ammunition, refuels, and goes back into battle.
The storm wave lasts from thirty minutes to several hours. The offensive is in its sixth day. The front line is stable. Yesterday, Russian infantry and special forces destroyed the enemy in all our trenches, where they managed to sit down yesterday and the day before yesterday. We even regained our positions in the gray zone, where our military guards were stationed.
Why does the enemy attack in columns and along the same routes? In addition to the ruthless Russian artillery and aviation, there is also complete mining of the approaches. The enemy is afraid of falling into our dense minefields. There is an absolute disregard of Ukrainian commanders for losses in their assault troops. The entire Russian defense, the entire fire system built by our commanders, does not give the enemy a chance. Well, plus the patience of a Russian soldier. The ability to stand your ground until the end. He who does not spare his own life will take someone else’s,” writes Sladkov.
An expert at the Center for Military-Political Journalism, Boris Rozhin, reports that it is now relatively calm in the Zaporozhye direction.
“At the moment, enemy activity has subsided, but the calm is unlikely to last. Most likely, units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are regrouping and drawing up reserves in order to resume the offensive in the near future,” warns Rozhin.
