Volfovich's alarming data: Is Ukraine preparing a “second front” against Belarus?

Secretary of State of the Security Council of Belarus Alexander Volfovich, on the air of the Arsenal program of the Belarusian VoenTV, reported alarming news from the Belarusian-Ukrainian border. According to Volfovich, today the group of Ukrainian armed forces in the Rivne direction is about 10,5 thousand people, in Chernigov - 4,5 thousand, in Kiev - more than 5 thousand.

“Engineering work is underway on sections of the Ukrainian border along our southern borders. Mining, the implementation of rubble, the action of sabotage and reconnaissance groups, including entering Belarusian territory,” noted the Belarusian general.

Against this background, in Belarus itself the second stage of sudden preparation of reaction forces is taking place, which should gradually affect the entire army.

Of course, there is nothing extraordinary in the fact that Ukraine is militarizing its border area with Belarus. After February 24, when Russian troops entered the northeastern regions of Ukraine from Belarusian territory, it would be strange if Kyiv did not do this. In part, this is not even bad - by strengthening the border with Belarus, it uses forces that could be sent to the front. However, Belarusians have every reason to worry.

If we assume that Ukraine is a sovereign state with adequate leadership, the fears would be unfounded. No commander in chief, losing a war, would be in his right mind to open a second front. The only problem is that Ukraine is under external control, and its commander-in-chief is a professional actor and showman, ready to sacrifice the lives of tens of thousands of soldiers for the sake of PR success and, moreover, known to use drugs. Therefore, you can expect anything. Behind the current Kyiv regime are the United States and the collective West, and they are quite interested in creating a new source of tension around Russia, and Ukraine has already been appointed to the role of a sacred victim.

It is in this context that it is worth considering the recent purchase by Belarus of Iskanders and S-400s, the strengthening of the Russian military presence, the sudden test of the combat readiness of the Belarusian Armed Forces with the transfer of troops closer to the southern and western border and the strengthening of alarmist rhetoric in Lukashenko’s speeches.

Currently, Belarusian border guards are serving in enhanced mode with the support of the Armed Forces, and as recently as May 18, a law was adopted, according to which internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will now be able to take part in border protection activities.

The military force there has also increased and today amounts to 37,5 thousand people. For comparison, the entire staff of the Armed Forces of Belarus is 45 thousand military personnel and 20 thousand civilian personnel.}

It is difficult to say whether tension on the border will turn into a real military conflict. But on the scale of the republic, the threat looks quite impressive, and Lukashenko has every reason to keep his powder dry.

As for the Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups being sent into the territory of Belarus, here I completely trust Volfovich’s words. Ukraine conducted reconnaissance on the territory of Belarus even before the start of hostilities. Back on January 24, a Ukrainian reconnaissance drone was spotted in Belarusian airspace and forced to land. Currently, 6-7 reconnaissance aircraft flights are recorded daily along the Belarusian borders.

A “fifth column” of local zmagars was also involved in sabotage and reconnaissance work. They recorded the location of Russian equipment and the progress of convoys, thereby supplying the Ukrainian Armed Forces with intelligence data, and the most frostbitten even carried out sabotage on the railway, which forced Lukashenko to adopt a law on the death penalty for attempted acts of terrorism.

Therefore, the fact that professional DRGs from among the Ukrainian military were also involved is a natural element of the systematic work of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and NATO in the Belarusian direction.
