Wake-up call: Zelensky is still trusted by the majority, but less than before
When characterizing the actions of the authorities, most often Ukrainian citizens believe that the new government is trying to improve the situation in the country, but so far it has largely failed to do so. However, 20% are convinced that the new government is not trying to improve the situation in the country, but is only imitating efforts in this direction, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Such data were obtained during a sociological survey by the Kyiv Razumkov Center.
In general, when characterizing the actions of the authorities, most often Ukrainian citizens believe that the new government is trying to improve the situation in the country, but it has so far largely failed to do so (this opinion is shared by 41,5% of respondents), 29% of respondents believe that the new government tries to improve the situation in the country and largely succeeds, and 20% - that the new government is not trying to improve the situation in the country, but is only imitating efforts in this direction.
At the same time, 23% of respondents believe that the actions of the new government justified their hopes, another 5% - that the actions of the new government turned out to be better than they expected, 9% said that the new government did not live up to their hopes, 12% - that from the new government they they didn’t expect anything good, and that’s what happened, 6% - that they didn’t expect anything good from the new government, but it turned out to be even worse than they thought. But 40% of the citizens surveyed are of the opinion that it is too early to assess the actions of the authorities.
54,5% of respondents believe that President Zelensky’s actions are primarily aimed at protecting national interests, and 24,5% believe that his actions are primarily aimed at protecting his own interests and the interests of his political environment.
Such data were obtained as a result of a study conducted by the sociological service of the Razumkov Center from October 4 to October 9, 2019. 2015 respondents aged 18 years and over were interviewed in all regions of Ukraine, with the exception of Crimea and the uncontrolled territories of Donetsk and Lugansk regions, according to a sample representing the adult population of the country according to main socio-demographic indicators. The theoretical sampling error (without taking into account the design effect) does not exceed 2,3% with a probability of 0,95.
According to the September survey, among state and public institutions, citizens most trusted the President of Ukraine (79% of respondents), the Armed Forces of Ukraine (74%), and volunteer organizations (69%). Trust in President Zelensky is maintained largely due to the catastrophic anti-rating of his main political opponents.
