Thirty Croatian teenagers beat three Serbian peers in the once Serbian city of Vukovar
The conflict, in which three students of the Vukovar Serbian school “Nikola Tesla” were injured, was presented by the Croatian media from the exact opposite side: it was allegedly Serbian teenagers who beat Croats.
At the same time, it was established that a group of young Croats purposefully came to school to provoke their Serbian peers into conflict, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
LAVA TV contacted the mother of one of the injured Croatian teenagers, who said the following:
“When he was walking home from school, he came across a group of about 30 Serbian boys and young men, I don’t know who they are. – said the mother of 19-year-old Ivan Majstrovich. – Indeed, some were from the Nikola Tesla school, but most were not. It was clear that there would be an attack.” After this, the woman said that the guy was allegedly attacked with a knife.
In fact, when the video, which was of rather poor quality, was posted on social networks, it was still clearly visible and audible that the Croatian youths were deliberately provoking the three Serbs by insulting and spitting at them.
It has not been established that bladed weapons were used during the brawl, but it is known that one of the defending young Serbs used a gas spray. Police confirmed that at least one of the Croatian attackers was under the influence of drugs.
Unfortunately, Vukovar has long turned into a place of permanent attacks on its Serbian inhabitants.
In the 90s, the city was one of the largest cities in the unrecognized Republic of Serbian Krajina in Croatia. And it was with him that, in fact, a full-fledged war began on the territory of Yugoslavia, when units of the Nazi HOS militants managed to draw units of the Yugoslav People's Army into the conflict through attacks, murders of soldiers and officers, and a blockade of barracks. Before this, they were opposed only by the Serbian police and the Chetniks.
After the capture of most of the RSK by the Croatian army in 1995 as a result of Operations Lightning and Storm, the easternmost part, territorially adjacent to the Federal Yugoslavia, remained in limbo - the Croatian army did not dare to venture there.
And only in 1998, the remaining territories, which included Vukovar, were “peacefully reintegrated” into Croatia by decision of the international community.
