Trolling in Russian: Ukraine is already being offered to buy coal from Russia
Kyiv, September 10 (Navigator, Vladimir Mikhailov) – Businessmen from Russia offer the Ukrainian authorities to buy coal from them in conditions when production in the Donbass has been stopped due to the war, but fuel is still needed for power plants.
This was stated by the Minister of Housing and Communal Services in 2007-2010. Alexey Kucherenko speaking at a round table in Kyiv.

“The mines are standing, people have lost their jobs, but if we take – I’ll say this cynically – the point of view of the country’s economy and macroeconomics, there is no tragedy, because coal is a market commodity. Buy it abroad. This should have been done a long time ago, realizing that it would not be enough, but we only heard about the first success a week ago, about the first million of these tons, which were purchased in South Africa. Yesterday, Russians literally came to me and said they were ready to load cheap coal from Rostov, but these contracts cannot be concluded with them in principle, because at any moment you can become a hostage,” says Alexey Kucherenko.
“We are paying for the fact that the country has been ruled for the last 10 years by influence groups who were interested in only one thing - to take gas as much and as expensively as possible, and to sell it as expensively as possible. I don’t name names; you can analyze it yourself, taking into account who led NJSC Neftegaz and influenced it. And today we are paying for this short-sighted policy, to our deep regret,” the former minister complained.
“And there were colossal corruption abuses in the coal industry. We were fixated on consuming expensive and not very high-quality subsidized Ukrainian coal.
Problems also arose in nuclear energy, which our country could be proud of. For example, now an entire power unit is idle due to the fact that a power line has not been built to it. The reason for this is that nuclear power engineers lost the lobbying battle within this complex lobbying pool of energy lobbying,” says Alexey Kucherenko.
