Pipe-laying vessels of the Swiss company Allseas, which previously worked on the Nord Stream 2 project, left the Baltic region of work after the United States imposed sanctions on the project and have already been demobilized to prepare for another project, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

TASS reports this with reference to the Allseas press service.

“The Allseas construction fleet has left the Baltic Sea and has been demobilized to prepare for other work,” the company said.

As PolitNavigator reported, on December 20, US President Donald Trump signed the country's defense budget, which provides for sanctions against companies involved in the construction of the Nord Stream 2 and Turkish Stream gas pipelines. The United States gave Nord Stream 2 contractors a month to wind down work. Due to the threat of American sanctions, the Swiss company Allseas, which is laying pipes for Nord Stream 2, suspended work and recalled the vessels involved in the project.

Last week, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said that he expects the launch of Nord Stream 2 no earlier than the end of 2020.
