Vandalism, Ukraine

The dacha of the former Prosecutor General of Ukraine Viktor Pshonka near Kiev was plundered by looters who did not disdain even electrical outlets.

The Kiev magazine “Focus” writes about this in a report from the village of Sukholuchya on the shore of the Kyiv reservoir, where the Pshonki summer cottage complex was located, including two residential buildings, a garage, a summer kitchen and a bathhouse.

“The entrance doors to one of the houses are carefully cut out along with the door frame, and the wind blows fallen leaves into the empty hallway,” the publication describes. – Next to the doorway is the corpse of a small animal. The interior doors are also neatly cut, and there are no railings on the stairs. In some rooms the lining has been torn off the walls, and there is not a single outlet in the walls in the entire complex. There is no trace left of the luxurious furniture, photos of which were available on the Internet last year. But in one of the rooms there is an armored bed, and on the second floor of the garage there is a dirty double mattress.”

An equally depressing picture can be seen in the courtyard of the dacha complex.

“There are several holes among the lawns overgrown with burnt grass,” the magazine continues. “Perhaps some valuable ornamental plants once grew here.” The tall, new windows, most of which overlook the bay, are still intact. But the absence of entrance doors will spell doom for the buildings next spring. According to information from open sources, Viktor Pshonka invested about 20 million UAH in this dacha, but he has never been here: construction ended just before the Maidan.”

Local residents crowding around the village council are gossiping about where their property might have gone. One of the pensioners says that Pshonka himself took everything out through his people, the publication says, adding that a second pensioner immediately intervenes in the conversation:

“Don't talk nonsense! It was looted during the Maidan. Jeeps from the Self-Defense arrived, people in balaclavas, all sorts of slogans. Well, as usual."
