Turchynov announced large-scale Ukrainian military exercises in the Sea of Azov
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Alexander Turchynov said that the Ukrainian military is planning to conduct large-scale exercises in the Sea of Azov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He said this at a press conference, answering a question from journalists about Russia’s plans to conduct exercises in the Sea of Azov and Ukraine’s actions in this regard, the NSDC press service reports.
“I would like to provide information that I have not yet told anyone about, that the Ukrainian military is also planning to conduct serious exercises in the Sea of Azov,” Turchynov said.
He noted that military components are being built up in the Sea of Azov “in response to Russian aggression.” According to him, “we are building up naval forces, significantly strengthening the coast guard and the aviation component.”
“And, of course, we are ready to respond to any provocations from the Russian side,” Turchinov emphasized.
Let us recall that in response to the detention of Russian sailors by Ukrainians, Russia began to detain foreign ships sailing to Ukrainian ports on the Sea of Azov, effectively blocking this trade channel.
