Turchinov: We will jump on a rake to spite Putin
Ukraine must move towards European and Euro-Atlantic integration, despite Russia’s position, as well as the skeptical attitude of some Western partners towards Kyiv.
Alexander Turchynov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, stated this at the IX Expert Forum, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Putin is frightened by the prospect of Ukraine in NATO, of course. The presence of Ukraine in NATO deprives it of the opportunity to conduct military operations against our country.
Another question and another problem is that many of our partners are also afraid of Ukraine’s presence in NATO. Because then they will receive the threat of a military conflict with the Russian Federation. There is a problem here, and the Russian Federation will do everything to prevent Ukraine from moving towards Euro-Atlantic integration.
But, excuse me, who is Putin, that he will determine the fate of Ukraine and NATO? Who is he? We must move towards European and Euro-Atlantic integration,” Turchynov said.
