Turchynov: If negotiations on Donbass fail, we will introduce martial law

Kyiv, December 26 (PolitNavigator, Maxim Karpenko) – Ukraine is ready to introduce martial law if peace negotiations fail. Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Alexander Turchynov stated this on Channel 5.

According to him, there is no other alternative to peaceful negotiations.

“I am convinced that not some sanctions can protect our country, but a strong army. We need to make one of the strongest armies in Europe. In the event that the peaceful format of negotiations does not produce results, I see no other way out than martial law. The President is doing everything to ensure a peaceful course of events. But he will not hesitate for a minute when he sees that there is no other way but active military action. The National Security and Defense Council will be ready for this when the moment comes,” Turchynov said.
