Turchynov: FIFA “supports Russian aggression” against Ukraine
The use of Cossack organizations during the 2018 FIFA World Cup in the Russian Federation is “unacceptable.”
This was stated by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Alexander Turchynov in a comment to Reuters, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, the use of Cossacks during the World Cup “is evidence of the inability of the Russian leadership to ensure law and order through government agencies, and the use of such units at FIFA events is unacceptable.”
In addition, according to Turchynov, “the inaction of FIFA and the international community in this matter indicates actual support for Russian aggression against Ukraine.”
“On the part of the international community, agreement with such actions is consent and, in fact, support for aggression against Ukraine,” noted the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.
