According to him, production of Ukrainian Oplot tanks for domestic consumption will begin next year.
“Thanks to the organization of production, only since the beginning of this year, about 700 units of new or modernized equipment have been delivered to the army, about 6 thousand units of equipment have undergone repairs, including major ones. These are quite serious numbers, considering the conditions from which we started working. When we talk about tanks, given the resources that we have, we supply modernized T-64s. At the same time, starting from the new year, we are planning serious changes in the quality of equipment in the state defense order and are preparing for the supply of Oplot tanks. This is one of the most modern tanks in the world, but it is much more expensive than modernizing the T-64,” Turchynov said.
