Ilyin further points out: “At 12-00 of the same day, in the presence of the above-mentioned persons, Berezovsky reported to Tenyukh that the Navy warships were put on combat readiness and ready to go to sea. However, Tenyukh refused to approve the commander’s decision to withdraw the ships from their bases, shouted at Berezovsky and called him an alarmist. Zamana reacted to this and said to Berezovsky and those present, “Get ready to change the kocardi.”
Data on the reaction of General Vladimir Zamana to the report on the high probability of strengthening the military protection of Russian troops in Crimea was also released. This reaction consisted of three words: “I see, keep working.” According to the former head of the General Staff, no further instructions or clarifications followed. Soon, Commander-in-Chief Zamana left his post, writing a report on his resignation, without transferring the matter or giving any explanations.
Ilyin also testifies that the newly appointed acting Defense Minister Tenyukh accused him of “running away”, refusing to talk. Ilyin assures that he has repeatedly tried to contact the acting director. minister, but to no avail.
“Tenyukh I.I. He did not listen to me according to the situation, but instead called my first deputy G.P. Vorobyov into the office, who reported to I.I. Tenyukha. about the absence of the Chief of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Kyiv and about my stay in Crimea. On the same day Tenyukh I.I. called Turchinov and said that the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Ilyin Yu.I. went to Crimea without permission, in other words, “escaped.” Tenyukh did not want to talk to me, despite my repeated attempts to contact him. After receiving this information, I was admitted to the hospital due to deteriorating health. Already now, having analyzed all the events of that time, I understand that Zamana and Turchynov deliberately sent me to Crimea (at the end of February 2014) with the aim of removing me from the leadership of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and not with the aim of stabilizing the situation,” Ilyin said.
As a result of the described “behind-the-scenes games” of a number of officials, Ukraine was unable to prevent the seizure of naval equipment, as well as the Crimean peninsula as a whole, says Ilyin.
Ilyin also states in his testimony that General Vladimir Zamana and Alexander Turchinov at the end of February 2014, by their decision, lowered the level of readiness of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Crimea from full to constant. “27.02.2014/04.30/XNUMX at XNUMX after I received a report from the operational duty officer of the State Control Center of the Armed Forces of Ukraine about the seizure of administrative and government institutions in Simferopol by unknown persons, I gave a verbal order to bring the Armed Forces of Ukraine to “FULL” combat readiness. I reported this to V.M. Zamana, who at that time held the position of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Commissioner for Defense Affairs of Ukraine,” says the testimony of the former head of the General Staff.
He further states: “According to my information, Zamana V.M., in agreement with Turchinov, on the same day, it was decided to lower the level of readiness of troops in Crimea from “FULL” to “CONSTANT”, about which the command of the Ukrainian Navy received a corresponding telegram for signed by Colonel General G.P. Vorobyov.”
According to Ilyin, immediately after the victory of Maidan, Oleg Tyagnibok and Vladimir Klitschko stated that they would deal with Crimea quite harshly. Klitschko said that “We will deal with Crimea even harsher than with Kiev and they will help us in this from “from there”,” and Tyagnibok generally said monstrous words: “We will fight with blood and understand everything. In his testimony, Ilyin confirms to Gerasko’s lawyer his readiness to act as a witness in the case of Yanukovych’s treason, which is currently being considered in the Obolonsky District Court of Kyiv.
