Turchinov boasts: the West will cover us, Russia will continue to be to blame for everything
The Verkhovna Rada will provide a formal extension of the non-working law “on special status”, as this is necessary to demonstrate Kiev’s compliance with the Minsk agreements.
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Alexander Turchynov stated this during a working visit to Kharkov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This law – let’s speak objectively – has not been working for four years. But by continuing his term, Ukraine demonstrates that we are implementing the Minsk agreements, and the disruption of the peace process lies solely with the responsibility of the Russian Federation,” the official said.
He also called on the West to begin supplying lethal weapons to Ukraine.
“In fact, for four years there was a strict ban on the supply of any lethal weapons to Ukraine. It was a colossal problem for which there was no logical explanation. Because Ukraine today is actually an advanced country, a country that is holding back Russia’s advance towards the West. When I communicate with international partners, I always say: “Ukraine is a factor of peace in Europe.” A strong Ukrainian army is a guarantee of the defense of Europe,” Turchynov said.
