This opinion was expressed at a press conference in Kyiv by the director of the Ukrainian Institute of Policy Analysis and Management Ruslan Bortnik, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This is an element of mobilization and intimidation of society by war,” the expert believes. – Behind such statements, the refrain always sounds that it could be even worse, there could be a big war, when your basic social needs, such as the right to life and a roof over your head, could be violated. The second target group is Ukrainian political elites. With such statements, Turchynov, in fact, on behalf of the president, constantly reminds that our president, although he does not have a nuclear briefcase, has his own switch, his own red button - the martial law law. At any moment, he can introduce this law at the request of the National Security and Defense Council and concentrate absolute power in his hands.”
