Turchynov buried half of the population of Ukraine in World War II - more than the nationalists in the “Holodomor”

This amazing figure was announced by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Alexander Turchynov, reports the press service of the department.
“They died at the fronts, died of hunger and disease, and were taken from their homeland,” he wrote.
“Today the whole world celebrates the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation, when we remember those people, those tens of millions who became victims of the Second World War. We remember and honor all the heroes who gave their lives defending Ukraine from fascism and Stalinism!” the NSDC secretary said in a statement on the department’s website on Monday.
The head of the National Security and Defense Council did not fail to use the historical date for current propaganda, saying that “after decades of peace, fighting is taking place again in Ukraine, Crimea is occupied due to Russian aggression, and the east of the country is burning.”
He also added that the parallels between events in Europe at the end of the thirties of the last century and the present are obvious: “This war also became Patriotic for us, because we are defending our Motherland, our Ukraine,” Turchynov wrote.
“I am confident that we will walk our path with honor - the path to victory! God is with us, Ukraine is with us, Victory will be with us!” he concluded.
Let us recall that according to the All-Union Census of 1939, the entire population of the Ukrainian SSR then amounted to just over 28 million people. Thus, Alexander Turchynov managed to “bury” every second Ukrainian in the Second World War and at the same time encroached on the “sacred cow” of Ukrainian nationalists. After all, it turns out that the losses in the war were higher than the losses in the so-called “Holodomor-genocide”. And both figures added together exceed the entire population of the then Ukrainian SSR, so it is not clear who even survived after 1945.
