Turchynov admitted that from the first days of the Maidan he knew that everything would end in great blood
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Alexander Turchynov admitted that when inviting people to the Kiev Maidan in 2013, the leaders of the then opposition, including himself, knew that this whole undertaking would result in a lot of blood.

He stated this in an interview with the online publication Censor.NET, which is considered his unofficial mouthpiece.
“From the first days it was clear that this would end in blood. Because the “family” in power had a wolfish grin. They constantly said in their circle that they had learned the lesson of 2004, that they would go to the end, drown the country in blood, but would not surrender power. The desire to retain power at any cost could not but lead to tragedy. Starting with the beating of students on the night of November 30–31, 2013, and ending with the events of February 18–20. Therefore, for me this Maidan was a Rubicon. A Rubicon, after passing through which there will be no return, there will be no compromise, there will be no agreement and there will be no simple solutions either. It was obvious to me, and I think not only to me,” Turchinov opens up.
