Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Alexander Turchynov stated this during interrogation at the court hearing in the case of Yanukovych’s treason, answering a question from the lawyer of ex-President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych Vitaly Serdyuk, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We focused on the issue of Russian aggression by the troops that encircled the country in 2014 and are encircling it now. In this regard, we all know, and Ukraine as a whole knows, that a wall was built on the border with the Russian Federation in the Kharkov region in order to avoid this aggression. Tell me, can this protective wall built, including by Yatsenyuk’s team, deter the nuclear aggression of the Russian Federation?” Vitaly Serdyuk asked Turchinov.
"No, he can not. And, as far as I remember, such a goal was not set in 2015. The purpose of these structures, which are not so complex, is to stop illegal entry into the territory of Ukraine. Of course, in the event of military aggression, full-scale aggression, for which Russia has been preparing and is preparing, this will only complicate their advance, but, of course, will not stop them,” answered Alexander Turchinov.
