Turchynov called for the development of space reconnaissance in Ukraine

This was stated by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Alexander Turchynov, introducing the new chairman of the State Space Agency of Ukraine, reports PolitNavigator correspondent with reference to the press service of the National Security and Defense Council.
“Ukraine should be proud not only of its space past, but also of its space present and future,” Turchynov said.
He also noted that “not everyone in the world is happy” about our Ukrainian space successes.
“There are constant attempts, primarily on the part of the Russian Federation, to compromise our country and lead to a stop or blocking of our rocket and space programs. And the latest provocations around this time have confirmed this,” he said.
Turchynov noted that without a powerful rocket and space complex, Ukraine will not have a reliable effective defense and security system.
According to the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, the government has already taken the first steps towards creating powerful concerns and research and production associations that will concentrate on fulfilling the assigned tasks.
Turchinov is convinced that the role of the State Space Agency should also change.
“It should not be an intermediary between the state budget and enterprises, but should design the future of the industry, ensure international connections and contracts,” he emphasized.
