Turchinov: Putin is mortally afraid of Maidan
Kyiv, March 17 (Navigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – Russia’s military operation in Crimea is a response to the Kiev Maidan, which overthrew the authoritarian ruler Viktor Yanukovych – the Kremlin is mortally afraid of a repetition of these events in Russia.
This was stated by the acting President of Ukraine Alexander Turchynov.

“We are opposed by the political leadership of the Russian Federation. They dream of restoring the empire. They are terrified of the example of Ukraine, where the people defeated the totalitarian regime,” says the Ukrainian leader.
“Attempts at a military blockade of Crimea are temporary and will not lead to the disconnection of the peninsula from Ukraine. We are ready for negotiations, but we will never accept the annexation of our land... Our military demonstrated truly heroic restraint, the Ukrainians did not succumb to provocations, and Russia, on the contrary, actually found itself in international isolation,” Turchynov added.
“Despite the terrible economic crisis, the government is seeking funds for the army and the National Guard. These are the changes to the State Budget that the Verkhovna Rada adopted today.
Yes, we are forced to save and, first of all, we are reducing expenses on government agencies. But we will not skimp on security and defense, because the life of every Ukrainian depends on it,” he emphasized.
