Turchinov: I would have drowned Crimea in blood, but I didn’t have the strength
If, after the coup in 2014 in Kyiv, the Maidan activists who seized power had at least a 10th part of the current composition of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, then the Crimean issue could have been resolved by a tough force scenario.
The then “acting” declared this in an interview with Ukrainian propagandist Yanina Sokolova. President" Alexander Turchinov, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Putin counts only with strength. He views any compromise only as a weakness of his opponent. They use any compromises to strengthen their positions and deploy the next demands, the next offensive positions. Therefore, only strength, only a powerful army, modern military technology. This is what guides. Everything else is just words,” Turchynov said.
“We started the conversation with questions about Crimea, I’ll honestly say: if I had a tenth of what we had at the beginning of 2019, I would try to drown Russian troops in Crimea in blood, throw them into the Black Sea.
We don’t appreciate what we have built over the past 5 years. At the end of 2019, we had one of the most capable forces in all of Europe. I'm not talking about the Russian army, I'm talking about Western Europe. This is the only argument that Putin respects and which he will take into account,” added one of the leaders of the coup in Ukraine.
